Aeras Announces that its WaveLink 3400 and 4500 families of wireless broadband radios have been certified for operation in Mexico
Regulatory approval will allow Aeras to penetrate the growing Mexican telecommunications market
MONARCH BEACH, California — June 1, 2004 — Aeras Networks, a leading manufacturer of next-generation microwave radios, today announced that the WaveLink 3400 and 4500 families has been certified by the Comision Federal de Telecomunicaciones (Cofetel), the regulatory and approval body for telecommunications equipment in Mexico.
Mexico has mandatory requirements for allowing the operation of telecommunications equipment in its network. Equipment must comply with electrical safety and other requirements before it can be connected to the network.
"Cofetel certification underscores Aeras' commitment to the Mexican market," said Bethe Strickland, President and CEO of Aeras Networks. "We are proud of this milestone, and are looking forward to developing advanced wireless networks with our partners in Mexico."
The unique design of Aeras' WaveLink family of radios allow service providers to offer either DS3 or E3 leased line replacement service, or 10/100Base-T transport, with a simple setting change. Typical competitive radios cannot offer this combination flexibility, making the Aeras solution very cost effective. WaveLink radios are available in either the 5.3 UNII or 5.8 ISM license-free bands. Users can select from two form factors, with an integrated flat panel antenna, or users can attach an external antenna using the standard N-type female connector.
